Entry Rules
- Either design firm and/or at least one designer on the team needs to be from Tennessee.
- Team entries (one project completed by multiple firms) are permitted. One of the team members must be a Tennessee member in good standing.
- The project must have been completed and installed during the period of August 1, 2021 to August 1, 2024.
- Enter project into the one category for which it is best suited based on size and project budget.
- The same project may not be entered in more than one category.
- You may enter up to 3 entries per person/firm.
- Fees must be paid with each entry form submitted on-line and are non-refundable.
- The first entry is $150 for members and $75 for each additional entry. The first entry is $250 for non-member and $175 for each additional entry.
- Registrations must be completed by 11:59pm CST September 9, 2024. You will have until September 9, 2024 to complete your entries (upload all photos, supporting documents, etc.).
- Entries failing to follow the rules will be disqualified and will NOT be refunded.
- The decision of the judges is final. Winners to be announced at the NKBA Gala evening of October 4, 2024.
Categories
The competition is divided into eleven (11) categories. See category list tab for details.
Kitchens should be entered into an appropriate kitchen category based on square footage of the kitchen. While calculating square footage for kitchens, cook, prep and clean-up areas, family desk, built-in or island dining, and ‘eat-in areas’ (not formal dining) are to be included, where applicable.
Primary Bathrooms should be entered into an appropriate bathroom category based on square footage. For primary bathrooms, water closets, vanities, and areas for bathing, shower, closet and dressing should be included, where applicable.
Powder Rooms should be entered into a bathroom category – While there are no budget or sizing constraints, we encourage creativity and craftsmanship. Vanities and toilets should be included.
Projects may be moved to an alternate category, if in the wrong category, by the judging panel, after prior notification to the entrant.
Entry Requirements
- Create Your Account: Registrations for this online competition first require all users to create an account on this online platform. Click Sign In in the upper nav bar, then 'Create One' to get started.
- Entry Form: Complete the electronic entry forms. Company identification should appear only where requested. We will request actual square footage of the space, budget and completion date.
- Dimensioned Floor Plans and Elevations: No company identification or individual identification is to appear anywhere on the design drawings. Upload a minimum of 2 and maximum of 5 files.
- Design Statement: We recommend that the design statement should be 300 words or less. Judges will be reviewing this as part of the presentation, check spelling and grammar, be clear and concise.
- Describe client objectives and how they were met.
- Explain any design challenges that were present and how they were solved
- Highlight design elements that are unique and memorable.
- If client has refused any safety products or other design criteria, explain.
- Photographs: Photographs are required. We recommend a high resolution .jpg image suitable for print publication (e.g. 300 dpi)
- Upload a minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 photographs.
- Limit each photograph to a maximum file size of 10 MB.
- CANNOT portray any company names, project name, designer name, logos, home addresses, visible faces, or any other project identifiers.
- Professional photography is highly recommended for the best presentation. However, it is not required.
- Designer headshot is required for promotional purposes.
- By entering this contest, entrants are giving permission to NKBA Tennessee to use their photographs for promotional purposes.
- Student Entries: Please upload one of your student projects of a kitchen or a bathroom in the appropriate student category.
- Upload renderings of your project for the judges to review - minimum of 3 and maximum of 10 files allowed.
- Complete a design statement of 300 words of less.
- Designer headshot is required for promotional purposes.
Reasons for Disqualification
- Your registration and payment must be received by midnight 9/9/2024. Entries must be complete by 9/9/2024 or will be disqualified. No refunds will be offered.
- Any entrants that have won first place in any design competition may not enter this competition you will be disqualified. If you win first place in a separate competition during our enrollment period, you will be disqualified as well. No refunds will be offered.
- Any project identifier shown will result in disqualification.
Judging and Winner Recognition
- Judges will include a panel of NKBA certified Kitchen and Bath designers and seasoned professionals.
- The decision of the judges is final.
- Winners will be announced at awards ceremony in October, 2024. Details to follow.
- NKBA TN reserves the right to determine the number of entries that will be recognized with an award.
- All winners will receive social media recognition.
